Who are we ? Potters Bar Theatre Company (as Little Heath & Potters Bar Operatic & Dramatic Society), have been performing in Potters Bar for over 54 years. We stage two musicals and two plays every year. Our larger plays and musicals are put on at the Wyllyotts Centre Theatre, while for our smaller productions we use the more intimate theatre at Tilbury Hall in Darkes Lane. What do we do? First and foremost - we have fun! However, when we put on a show, its not just the performers that have the fun. A whole team of people are required before the show even gets anywhere near the theatre. Apart from the Director, the choreographer and the musical director who audition, cast and work with the actors, there are many more tasks going on concurrently in the background. In fact, many of our current acting members started working behind the scenes before appearing on stage & some of them never want to leave backstage - being part of the 'team' can be as enjoyable as actually standing up in front of the spotlight. It’s not all production work! The Society has a strong social side for its membership to enjoy. Regular events include quiz evenings, dinner dances, barbecues, picnics, murder evenings, themed evenings, theatre outings and Christmas parties for adults and children. Summer is nearly here! The Potters Bar Carnival is on the 8th June, and if there are enough people interested we can take part in the procession. We will also need volunteers to man the stall, and help with the ever-popular Ladder Game. If you can help with either the stall or wish take part in the procession, email the company. Then there is the Fun Day, on the 12th July. Volunteers for the day please email the company if you are able to help. |
