What About PBTC?

PBTC, founded in 1952, perform two musicals and two dramas each year. Our members are heavily involved in all aspects of putting on a show. Whether you are interested in acting and singing or are a dab hand with lighting and scenery, there is something for everyone, no matter what your age or experience.

What can you do?

There are plenty of things you can help with as a patron or a member

As well as those who like being on stage, there are plenty of other opportunities for volunteering behind the scenes! We are always on the look out for people to help our friendly teams responsible for...

Set Building

Do you enjoy messing about with a hammer and nails or are you a dab hand with the paint brush? If yes, our backstage team needs you!The Society is lucky to own its own warehouse in which we are able to build complete sets for some of our shows before moving them to the theatre.

Lighting and Sound

These are two vital aspects of a production. We need members to train in the skills of operating the sound-board for the microphones at Wyllyotts, controlling the lighting and operating follow-spots. Why not come along and have a go?

Costumes

Come and help us dress the cast. The Society has a large store of costumes at 'The Costume Store' which are added to regularly. As part of the wardrobe team you can either make new costumes, adapt existing costumes or just hire from other costumiers and never pick up a needle! If you're organised, why not be Wardrobe Mistress/Master for a show.

Props

Do you have a loft full of items you just 'fancied' at car boot sales - if the answer is yes, you'd make an excellent member of our props team, collecting items which are essential for the play and without which the stage would appear bare

Prompt

Do you enjoy plays and/or musicals but have no desire to perform in them? Why not prompt the actors during rehearsals and see the show every night for free

Box Office

Good on the phone and time to spare? Our box office needs you. Commit to just one show a year for a couple of months. Phone provided.

Front of House

Are you Sociable? Then join our friendly front of house team, who greet the audience, direct them to their seats and sell programmes to them. Then they retire for a sociable drink until the interval.
